The potential advantage of laser-assisted liposuction is the tightening of the overlying skin beyond that achievable in some patients with conventional liposuction. Laser-assisted liposuction is also useful for removal of fat in very fibrous areas such as the male flanks or male breast.  As a technique for pure fat removal in most patients (in contrast to overlying skin tightening),  laser liposuction is currently slower than the conventional method and does not yield better results than other older methods.
